About the Tasman School's Triathlon Championships

For many years this event was the Andrew Jones Memorial Triathlon. An iconic top of the South event for secondary school students, in memory of a promising young triathlete, taken way to early in a cycling accident.

Rabbit Island, on the outskirts of Nelson is the ideal location for a Schools Triathlon. Predictable and safe sea conditions, smooth, sandy beach, and quiet roads and tracks for cycling and running.

Whilst this is a competitive event, we hope that it provides a friendly, safe opportunity for any student just to have a go. To that end, you don't need the latest equipment, the flashest bike, or be the fastest runner.

Many students enter in the teams race, and have great fun matching themselves against other schools in the region.
